Job creation measures:<\/strong> The state government should not be in the business of creating jobs but should very much be in the business of creating an economic environment in which private enterprise thrives and expands. This “pro-business” environment would include a tax system that does not punish success and a regulatory environment that is fair, efficient, and does not prohibit the expansion of job creation through business expansion.<\/p>\n

Top Issues:<\/strong> We need to get our long term economic life in order. This includes an overhaul of the tax system and a major reform in entitlements including our state pension funds.<\/p>\n

Prop 100 sales tax extension:<\/strong> I oppose it. I am in favor of using this looming budget crisis to implement major tax reform rather than continuing with stop gap gimmicks. We should stop picking winners and losers and create a fair and equitable tax collection system.<\/p>\n

Illegal immigration:<\/strong> It is my hope that the Supreme Court will uphold SB1070. This is primarily a federal issue. There is little more we can do as a state until we elect a new president in November. We need a new president who will work with us rather than against us as this administration is doing.<\/p>\n

Background & experience:<\/strong> I believe, as our founding fathers did, in the concept of citizen politician. That each of us can temporarily take our experience gained in the private sector to the public arena to do the peoples work. As a small custom home builder and realtor, I experienced the economic downturn in a very harsh way. I know what small businesses and home owners have gone through in the past few years because I am going through it too. Arizona taxpayers will have a friend in the Arizona Legislature if I am elected; someone who will not waste their hard earned money on unnecessary government projects!<\/p>\n

Pro-life \/ pro-choice:<\/strong> I am opposed to abortion on demand. I am absolutely opposed to tax dollars funding, or in any way subsidizing, abortions or abortion clinics. I believe in exceptions for the life of the mother and rape and incest.<\/p>\n

One last thing:<\/strong> I am a private citizen, just like you. I have never run for office, and I am not a professional campaigner. But like you, I have been frustrated with the political process for some time now. It seems that our country is going in a direction that I do not like. I am tired of yelling at the TV news and complaining to friends and neighbors. This is why I have chosen to run for the Arizona Legislature, and this is why I need your support. Together we can make a difference!<\/p>\n

Prop 100 sales tax extension:<\/strong> I favor it only if we can’t get back the tax giveaways to “needy” billionaire corporations. <\/p>\n

Illegal immigration:<\/strong> If you really want to undermine immigration, there are two ways: Do what Reagan did, which was to grant amnesty, and prosecute ALL corporations and companies that send for and hire these workers while restoring the old agriculture workers plan. <\/p>\n

Background & experience:<\/strong> Nothing I have learned can prepare me to be a legislator any more than reading books can prepare someone for parenthood. It’s learn as you go. <\/p>\n

Pro-life \/ pro-choice:<\/strong> I personally hate abortion, which is why I support Planned Parenthood as they are responsible for the drop in abortions since Roe v Wade. <\/p>\n

His belief that the individual is the strength of our country and his understanding of the founding fathers’ view on the role of government and the governed was revolutionary to me. Arizona has long been a state that values the individual over the state. <\/p>\n

Job creation measures:<\/strong> Lower business property taxes would be a good place to start. Next would be shortening the time it takes to interact with our state bureaucracy. Businesses need solid timelines to manage their affairs. If a business needs to get a permit, license, required test, or one of a hundred things that business comes to government for, government agencies must provide a definitive timeline to accomplish each task. If the deadlines are not met, the government agency should lose its fee. <\/p>\n

Top Issues:<\/strong> Education and jobs: We need to make the local school boards the most powerful force in local education. They know what the values of the community are and how to address them. Over the past twenty years more and more decisions about education have been put in the hands of the state and federal government and this has clearly been a bad idea. In the recent past our government has elevated the amount of regulation and business taxes to deal with problems that mostly do not exist. We need to make it easier to be in business here, through lower taxes, regulations that add value, and a licensing process that is fast and inexpensive. <\/p>\n

Prop 100 sales tax extension:<\/strong> Oppose, we do not have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem. <\/p>\n

Illegal immigration:<\/strong> We need to continue to make it hard for those who are here illegally to find work. It is clear from this past year, with diminishing economic opportunities, illegal immigrants self deport. We may still have to do something about the border if D.C. does not change hands in this election. <\/p>\n

Background & experience:<\/strong> I have served four years in the state Legislature and have a strong conservative record. I know how to move my district’s agenda forward through hard work, focus, and friendly persuasion. <\/p>\n

Pro-life \/ pro-choice:<\/strong> I am pro-life, except when it is necessary to save the life of the mother. <\/p>\n

One last thing:<\/strong> I have lived in Arizona 30 years and it is a great state and I love it here. It can always be said that some state does this or that better or smarter than we do, but the fact is, Arizona is viewed by many in those states as the place to move for a chance to start again in a better place. I would be proud to returned to the state Legislature to move our state forward. <\/p>\n

Job creation measures:<\/strong> I believe our two greatest focuses should be our education system and developing our infrastructure. We need to bring in new ideas and re-structure our education system to create the most skilled population of the world, and we need to create an environment where the foundation of our state is second to nowhere else on Earth.<\/p>\n

Top Issues:<\/strong> I will focus on education innovation and reform and on infrastructure development. There is no greater task than providing a foundation for our future to develop from. Without ease of movement or a society of skilled and creative individuals, we will not be able to have the economy of tomorrow.<\/p>\n

Prop 100 sales tax extension:<\/strong> I am reluctantly in favor. I would seek an alternative path to replace the sales tax as it takes money out of the hard working families who need it most. Also, the funds generated from the sales tax are being stolen for other uses – which needs to be stopped. As a state and as citizens we should understand that any missed opportunity to provide the best education available only sets up our future generations to be less competitive and more impoverished than the last.<\/p>\n

Illegal immigration:<\/strong> I believe enforcement of current limitations on employment is important, and reforming the system for those coming in to the country. Immigration is supposed to be a federal responsibility, but I believe the state has some measures it is able to take that can be both understanding of the realities and reasons of immigration and enforce laws on those committing wrong.<\/p>\n

Background & experience:<\/strong> I have lived through some of the toughest situations that our country can offer. I have seen the hurdles and hopelessness that the very poorest of America struggle with every day. I can honestly say that it is my task to not provide welfare, but to fight against hurdles in the way of people who can and would succeed if given the opportunity.<\/p>\n

Pro-life \/ pro-choice:<\/strong> Abortion falls within the realm of personal choices – it is legal, and was very much none of anyone’s business but that of the woman until Social Darwinism came into being. I believe that the choice belongs to women to decide – people in America are allowed to make decisions others do not agree with.<\/p>\n

One last thing:<\/strong> Voters should understand that I am a candidate that seeks to drop barriers to success. Investing in our citizens so they have the ingenuity and know-how to create the next iPhone or technology that will revolutionize our world demands work.
