Age: 60 (9/5/49, San Antonio, TX).
Arizona since: 1985.
Occupation: Hospice nurse, Nursecorp, since 2002; Kimberly Nursing, 1996-02.
Marital: Single.
Children: 2.
Religious preference: Christian.
Education: A.A., occupational studies, Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, 2007; L.P.N., Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute, 1978.
Political experience: Precinct committeeman.
Memberships have included: None.
Interests: Rescues and fosters animals, ordained minister, bereavement coordinator.
Issues:
Political influence: Sandy Doty. She was part of the elected board for the Republican Party. I met her at a rally, where people were protesting Sheriff Joe. I talked to her and told her my feelings. She kind of coached me and the next thing I know I’m a precinct committeeperson, and then the next thing I know I’m running for office.
Budget recommendations: Freeze all taxes right now for at least the next three years. Streamline new businesses coming into the valley. Make the red tape shorter, or eliminate the red tape. [Get rid of] all gimmie programs: welfare programs, all-day kindergarten programs, health care to illegals. Get rid of the illegals in the jails and the prisons. [Get] illegals out of schools. Any programs that are extended to non-Americans need to go. Other concerns: Security at our borders, sex offenders, and sex offenders in our school system.
Fiscal philosophy: Don’t spend more than you owe.
Background & experience: I raised my children by myself without aid of any government assistance of any kind. I put myself through nursing school and my associate’s degree, and repaid my loans before they were due. And I support myself and my foster animals without any government assistance.
Proposition 100 sales tax: I oppose it. It’s a tax increase.
Pro-life/pro-choice: I do not support abortion.
One last thing: I’m a very keep-it-simple-sweetie person, so I don’t think a lot of words are necessary. [I’m] pretty blunt, in your face. One of the reasons I’m running is I have no ties. I owe nobody anything. I haven’t been bought off. I haven’t been endorsed by anybody. I don’t care to be endorsed by anybody. And I believe that’s going to allow me to come in with an absolute clean slate.
Campaign Finance: public.
