Munger: No regret on ending gov campaign

Tucson attorney John Munger says he doesn’t regret his decision to drop out of the governor’s race now that the U.S. Supreme Court has blocked matching funds for publicly funded candidates.

When he ended his privately funded campaign a week ago, Munger cited a Supreme Court order that kept matching funds alive. But a new Supreme Court order Tuesday turned that around, at least for the 2010 elections.

Munger admits that he wishes the Supreme Court’s latest order came out a week ago but he says he based his decision on the information he had at the time.

And Munger says he’s not changing his mind now. He says he’s already laid off campaign staff and canceled fundraising events.
