Issues:

Political influence: Abraham Lincoln.

Budget recommendations: First: Cut pay and benefits to top officials, executives and staff (including the Senate and House). The financial situation this state is in cannot maintain pay raises and benefit packages.

Second: Open up more of the state’s operations, such as state parks and highway maintenance to private companies. Third: Eliminate the illegal population from the welfare rolls. Say no to providing housing, health care and other basic needs to those who are not even in this country legally. If we stop giving them everything, they may decide they should get proper papers, and get a job and contribute to the economy, or they may just have to go home and wait to come to the U.S. the right way.

Other concerns:
End illegal immigration and promote legal immigration, and reduce government to allow more freedom for individuals and businesses.

Fiscal philosophy: I have worked in my own business and family business all my life. I am from a small agricultural community, with a low- to middle-class citizenry. We are all hard workers and earn every penny we get. I have lived frugally all of my life and recognize in my gut what is right and wrong when it comes to spending money.

Background & experience: My education and my experience leading and managing events, such as Rex Allen Days and projects for my family, church and community have set me apart from most individuals and have given me an advantage in everyday life and on the job. It has made me a person that is capable of organizing my time and efforts to meet specific goals. I am also blessed with extreme problem solving skills that are available in a moment’s notice and the willingness and ability to work hard on a team or to lead when it is required.

Proposition 100 sales tax:
I oppose. A good portion of the increase will not even go to the schools/public service, and it was wrong to lead voters to believe it was for schools. This tax will open up more responsibility and therefore mean more expenses. It is a Band-Aid-type increase that will not fix the problems that caused the deficit to begin with, and it’s likely to become permanent.

Pro-life/pro-choice: I am pro-life. I believe that it is damaging to the mother of a child to “kill” her baby, and often times, a younger woman is influenced by others to make a decision she would not make if she were counseled properly. I would support, after careful consideration, abortion for a mother that is likely to lose her life, or in cases where the mother was a victim of an extremely violent act.

One last thing: I have recently become involved in politics through the TEA Party, and having set a goal to serve in the state government, I am now setting off to achieve that dream. My heart goes out to Arizonans who do not feel they have been represented fairly. I pledge to listen and represent them. I look forward to adding my integrity, patriotism and courage as we strive together to make Arizona brighter than the shining golden star on its beautiful flag.

Campaign Finance: public.
