Issues:

Political influence: Ben and Richard Miranda.

Budget recommendations: Restructure revenue sources to mirror others by balancing sales, income and corporate taxes. Consider a tax on sugar-additive products and taxes on internet purchases.

Other concerns: Education issues related to ELL, curriculum, Dream Act students and creating a seamless education system. Practical, workable immigration legislation.

Fiscal philosophy: Moderate views — a balanced tax structure.

Background & experience: Forty-five years of active life and participation in LD16 as an elementary/high school student, ASU graduate, Roosevelt teacher, assistant principal and school board member.

Proposition 100 sales tax: I favored the sales tax increase because we had no other options which would prevent immediate cuts to education.

Pro-life/pro-choice: I am pro-life with the position that abortion should be permitted to save the life of the mother or in cases of rape or incest consistent with Roe v. Wade.

One last thing: I believe in grassroots involvement and campaigns. My whole life has centered on the people of South Mountain, Laveen, Guadalupe, West Phoenix and Central Phoenix areas.

Campaign Finance: public.
