Age: 58 (6/1/52, Wilkensburg, PA).
Arizona since: 1960-77, 2000.
Occupation: Retired IT specialist, Western Area Power Administration, 2000-08; Edwards AFB, 1999-00; Naval Air Weapon Center (Point Mugu, CA), 1981-99.
Marital: Married (Alicia, housewife).
Children: 1.
Religious preference: Catholic.
Education: B.S., mathematics, Old Dominion University, 1980.
Political experience: Precinct and state committeeman.
Interests: History, religion, dabble in music, write non-fiction.
Issues:
Political influence: I have several, I suppose. Alan Keyes comes to mind first.
Budget recommendations: I believe budgets must be scrutinized to minimize spending. Having done that, business friendly tax policies to expand employment and compete with non-regulated offshore options combined with the flattest possible taxation system will enhance productivity.
Other concerns: 1) The U.S. Supreme Court has legalized the killing of pre-born humans. My goal is to lower the number of abortions in Arizona to zero using whatever creativity can be applied. 2) The federal government is failing by its unconstitutional laws and failure to enforce constitutional ones. The Legislature must work around these failures.
Fiscal philosophy: While I believe in small government, the constituents can be respected as to services. I am unequivocally opposed to deficit budget. We need to stop treating businesses like enemies as they produce jobs (and necessary products).
Background & experience: As an IT person, I was required to learn various business environments. Though I have no direct experience, I believe my willingness to learn, work hard and be honest, avoiding soft bribery combined with Republican principles, compensates for that and is even perhaps advantageous.
Proposition 100 sales tax: I am pretty neutral. I think it isn’t necessary but can abide by electorate will. It will give the Legislature some flexibility, and I believe that one way or the other we should not be renting buildings, paying interest, etc.
Pro-life/pro-choice: I believe human life to be sacred and that those times in history (i.e. slavery, Holocaust) when there was systematic violation of that principle through mis-defining humanness, there was massive trouble. Life begins at conception and should be treated similar to post-natal.
One last thing: Although I have not had political office experience, there is ample evidence that many who have much more impressive credentials are demonstrating the limited benefit of a power-packed resume sans a moral outlook that includes simple things like respect for truth, issue vs. partisan orientation, and historical perspective. I believe these qualities, on top of the very reasonable Republican platform, can render successful public service.
Campaign Finance: private.
