Age: 33 (8/3/76, Phoenix, AZ ).
Arizona since: Birth.
Occupation: Adjunct faculty, CollegeAmerica since 2010; personal financial representative, Allstate Insurance Co, since 1996.
Marital: Single.
Religious preference: Lutheran.
Education: M.A, interdisciplinary studies, ASU, 2008; B.A., history (English minor), UofA, 1999.
Political experience: Sergeant at Arms for the Maricopa County Democratic party, 2007-08; chair, District 10 Democrats, 2006-07; legislative candidate in District 10, 2004; campaign chair for Jackie Thrasher, 2002.
Memberships have included: Governing board member, Washington Elementary, District 6; former student body president, ASU West; treasurer of the Washington Education Foundation; former HOA president, Cortez Groves LOA.
Interests: Concerts, research, watching NBA and college basketball.
Issues:
Political influence: Former Rep. Jackie Thrasher, because she was the reason I got involved in local politics.
Budget recommendations: Relax Title 15 education mandates so school districts can control and prioritize their finances during these hard times. Review corporate loopholes like the one exempting 4.5 inch piping from being taxed. Look at taxing certain high end services like tanning and cosmetic surgery.
Other concerns: Protecting public education and higher education are two very important issues to me. The Legislature is hitting them with a sledgehammer instead of using a scalpel. We need a better-educated populace to create knowledge worker jobs.
Fiscal philosophy: I believe in open, transparent government where people can see what my philosophy is online. I would consider myself a fiscal and social moderate.
Background & experience: I have lived in the district virtually my whole life. I know how people in my district think about things, and I have a strong resolve. I have managed a business so I can understand the perspective of small business owners in Arizona.
Prop. 100 sales tax: I favor it because it’s the only option we have right now to deal with this budget crisis. Understand we still have to make prudent financial cuts even with the increase.
Pro-life/pro-choice: I believe this decision should be between a woman and her medical professionals. I believe we all should do our part to reduce unwanted or accidental pregnancies.
One last thing: If I win, I will be there to represent all District 10 residents, not just the ones who voted for me.
Campaign Finance: public.
