This is one of the fastest-growing areas of the state. Its population has increased by almost 25 percent since the 2000 census. Mohave County is the center of that growth.

Although Republicans have a comfortable voter registration edge over Democrats, both major parties have experienced similar declines in percentages since 2002: Republican and Democrat rolls have each declined almost 4.6 percent. The ranks of registered voters unaffiliated with the two main parties have grown by 9.2 percent. Approximately one-fifth of the population lives is a rural setting, the fifth-largest percentage among legislative districts in the state. The district has the third-highest proportion of military veterans, with more than 21 percent having served since 1990. Among districts with a majority of white residents, this district has the highest percentage (31.6 percent) of persons who did not graduate high school.
