Although Republican registration has fallen 8.2 percent from a high-water mark of 54.2 percent in 2002, the GOP still enjoys a registration advantage of 21 percentage points over Democrats. The ranks of voters unaffiliated with either major party have grown by 8.5 percent to 29 percent of registered voters. Democrats, whose percentage of voters in the district has largely remained around 25 percent, are now firmly entrenched in third place. The district is otherwise noteworthy for being one of the least ethnically diverse districts in the state.
