Interests: Running, avid sports fan and reading history and political science.

Issues:

Political influence: Robert Kennedy. I admired his willingness to change his perspective when confronted with facts.

Top priority: Job creation by encouraging the research, development, manufacture and installation of alternative energy resources particularly, but not limited to, solar energy.

Renewable energy: I support the clean energy standards, and I think that they are at the root of our economic recovery in regard to attracting new jobs to Arizona.

Privatization: I think there is some clarity required in regard to telecommunications. Much of it is already more clearly under the purview of other entities.

Control costs: There is a trade-off between short term and long term savings. I believe that in the short run sacrifice will be required by both the consumer and the provider to ensure viable, clean and ultimately affordable energy in this state for the generations that will follow.

Background & experience: My background in mental health services makes me a trained listener. My naval experience allows me to be part of the Operation Free Organization, which is intent on encouraging American energy independence. As a person who has run multimillion-dollar organizations, I know the good and the bad of government regulation and understand how it can impede or facilitate economic growth depending on how it is applied and enforced. As a person who has spent eight years in the Legislature in the minority party, I know how to work with other people of different orientations and backgrounds in order to find common ground to build upon in order to benefit our state.

Campaign finance: public.
