Randy Pullen won’t seek another term as chairman of the Arizona Republican Party after a shocking loss in his re-election bid for state committeeman.

Reps. Matt Heinz and Ed Ableser were still tied after two votes in the House Democrats' Nov. 4 leadership vote, so the caucus decided to flip a coin to break the stalemate. Heinz, a second-term Tucson Democrat, won the leadership post after picking tails.

Rep. Debbie Lesko was elected House majority whip, beating Rep. David Stevens in the House Republicans' only contested leadership race. House Speaker Kirk Adams was uncontested in his bid for a second term in charge of the House. Rep. Even the Attorney General’s Office, which has been in Democratic hands for the past 12 years, couldn’t withstand the Republican tsunami.
