After years of watching Gabrielle Giffords, Ann Kirkpatrick and Harry Mitchell stick out like blue nails on a very red board, Republicans are ready to swing their hammers again.

David Schweikert has spent two years itching for a rematch with U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell, and with a commanding win in the Republican primary for Arizona's 5th Congressional District, he'll get another chance in a far more favorable atmosphere.

Voters across Arizona are choosing party nominees for the state's eight congressional districts in Tuesday's primary.

With few policy positions separating the frontrunners in Arizona’s 5th Congressional District, the candidates are relying on their qualifications, credibility and their ability to defeat incumbent Democratic Rep. Harry Mitchell in November as they seek the Republican nomination.

Four of Arizona's eight congressional seats are likely to be competitive in November's general election, three held by Democrats and one in a Republican-leaning district being vacated by a Republican who is retiring.
