Feds to announce arrest in yearslong fraud probe

Federal officials plan to announce that they have broken up a sophisticated tax fraud scheme that used identity theft, computer hijacking and wire and mail fraud.

The results of the yearslong investigation are to be announced at a press conference called by the U.S. attorney’s office in Phoenix on Thursday morning. Other agencies involved in the case include the Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the FBI.

At least one person has been arrested, and federal officials say a grand jury has returned an indictment.
