Brewer furious over Clinton’s remark on immigration lawsuit

Gov. Jan Brewer is blasting the White House after Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told an Ecuadorian reporter that the U.S. Department of Justice plans to bring a federal lawsuit against Arizona over the state’s new immigration law.

“To learn of this lawsuit through an Ecuadorean interview with the Secretary of State is just outrageous,” Brewer said in a June 17 press release. “If our own government intends to sue our state to prevent illegal immigration enforcement, the least it can do is inform us before it informs the citizens of another nation.”

During the interview, a reporter for South American television station NTN24, a reporter asked Clinton what the Obama Administration thought about Arizona’s new law. Clinton responded by saying that comprehensive immigration reform remains a goal for the Administration, but also said legal action will come.

“President Obama has spoken out against the law because he thinks that the federal government should be determining immigration policy,” Clinton said. “And the Justice Department, under his direction, will be bringing a lawsuit against the act.”

According to media reports, the Justice Department has said they are still reviewing the new law, and would not confirm any legal action directive.

  1. Governor Brewer is right to be outraged.
This is a direct and total insult to the governor
and the entire state of AZ.

Does not the Federal Governments employees have even
a clue about protocol and just plain good manners?

This is just another example of the Liberal Lefts agenda.

They run ruffshod over anything and anyone they think
might hinder their elitist, self-serving, know it all attitude.

I guess you should not bother with decent manners and
proper etiquette, Gov. Brewer, Washington is just laughing
    at our state.

But it is we, the good citizens of AZ that will have the last laugh.

  2. Brewer knew the day she signed the bill that it would likely lead to litigation — so why all the feigned shock? Most constitutional scholars have already deemed the bill DOA.

It’s time Brewer admitted to the fact that the bill will do little or nothing to stop illegal immigration and that it was designed for one purpose — to get her elected by creating a wedge issue for independent voters. Meanwhile the drug cartels and weapons smugglers will continue business as usual. The only person truly addressing the real problem is Attorney General Goddard.

Note to Kathryn Kobor: Invest in some grammar training and don’t say the entire state was insulted when it wasn’t. What I find most insulting is that we have an unelected, uneducated governor creating a national image that we are all a bunch of knuckle-dragging hicks like her and Pearce.

  3. Public travel warnings are in effect for the following areas in Arizona.

1). Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge
2). Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument
    3). Ironwood Forest National Monument
    4). Sonoran Desert National Monument
5). Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge
    6). Coronado National Forest

The federal government now considers these areas dangerous to travel in.

  4. Amen to that, Andy. I completely agree. It’s interesting if you read the AZ Republic comments after the articles and the volume of sheer hatred towards illegals is astounding. Yet, now when business, real estate, etc is threatened with loss of business and suddenly people are shocked and screaming mad. Illegals are just that, illegal. It is illegal to be in the USA without documentation. I believe the Federal laws concerning illegal residency are more strict than AZ laws. Illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, they are here illegally. The often send what money they do get back to Mexico. People who hire them are not paying taxes for them. Yet illegals use tax dollars to send kids to schools that taxpayers pay for. School districts get something like $10,000 per student per year. Illegals take up jail space, costing tens of thousands per prisoner every year, they crowd or roads, our hospitals etc. etc… To put it in a bit of perspective, it would be like you saying “Gee, I like animals and would like to have one” but instead of getting just one you keep letting more and more in your home, until you can’t care for them. I am not for racially profiling people, and having busts at restaurants and schools. But, the illegal immigration needs to stop. We are talking about illegals, not immigrants who are here through legal ways.

I saw a documentary of TV about the drug gangs and watched them filming the known drug lords freely cross the boarders. They do not go after them. Not if you want you and your family to live. No… those people don’t get busted. But the rest of us have our cars x-rayed and we’re questioned and searched. Border patrol knows full well who the bad guys are. This is all just a politics game.

  5. Bizarre. You have the federal government giving travel advisories to five major national parks in Arizona telling the American people that it is dangerous to enter those areas and you have Obama wanting to sue Arizona for trying to secure the state. Its mad hater time.

  6. “But it is we, the good citizens of AZ that will have the last laugh.”

If laughts is what you want, go to a circus, dear.
