Sheriff’s captain suing Goddard over emails

A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office captain has filed a lawsuit against former Attorney General Terry Goddard and others over personal emails released to the public.

The Arizona Republic reports Capt. Joel Fox alleges Goddard and others violated his constitutional rights by accessing a string of personal emails.

The lawsuit filed in federal court alleges Goddard and investigators conducted an unreasonable search and seizure of his property when they took the emails.

Fox also alleges a conspiracy to violate his right to privacy. Goddard told The Republic he stands by the investigation and others named in the suit were just doing their jobs.
