Mills spends nearly $3.2M in governor's race

Yavapai County businessman Buz Mills reports spending nearly $3.2 million in his campaign for the Republican nomination for governor.

A campaign finance report filed by Mills says he spent $3,193,369 through Monday. He hasn’t yet filed a report detailing his recent fundraising but previous reports indicated his campaign was self-funded.

Meanwhile, Gov. Jan Brewer is asking a federal judge to allow her to supplement her $707,000 of public funding with private contributions.

The U.S. Supreme Court has blocked payment of so-called matching funds to publicly funded candidates outspent by privately funded rivals.

State Treasurer Dean Martin and Apache Junction resident Matthew Jette also are running for the Republican nomination.

  1. Fraudster Mills hires felon Fife, gives him millions for a mere 14% of vote. What a joke. Looks like Symington finally found some pockets even deeper than his wife’s to support him. Get ready for Esplanade II.
