Political experience: Former Lake Havasu City Council member, 2003-04; precinct committeeman; AZ Senate since 2005.
Memberships have included: Local men’s Republican club, past president.
Interests: Hunt, fish, ride horses, motorcycles. Issues:
Political influence: My parents. They raised me and instilled their viewpoints in me.
Budget recommendations: If we lowered taxes, we would increase revenue because when you lower business taxes and personal taxes it inspires people to develop business and to make money and that in turn brings in more money to the state. There’s probably a half-billion dollars of waste in the budget that you could cut out that has never been cut out.
Other concerns: Other than budget issues, the first one is illegal immigration. The second one that is non-fiscal is the protection of traditional family values.
Fiscal philosophy: I’m a limited-government Republican, and I believe that government should only do what can’t be done by the private sector — the administration of justice, law enforcement and the courts.
Background & experience: I have been a small businessman since I was 23 as an air-conditioning contractor. I was also a homebuilder, and I also have rental property — single-family homes.
Prop. 100 sales tax: I’ve been called the loudest voice against the Brewer tax.
Pro-life/pro-choice: I believe that we should protect the life of all individuals from conception to natural death.
One last thing: I’m Arizona’s No. 1 conservative.
Campaign Finance: private.
