Issues:
Political influence: Community activists. No one person.
Budget recommendations: Increase revenue by lowering the sales tax and broadening the base; suspend all tax credits; alcohol and gas tax increases are just a few ideas.
Other concerns: Promoting equal rights and protecting the rights of women and children, seniors, the environment, animals, the LGBT community, working folks and small business. I intend to continue the effort to protect pain doctors from unintended medical board sanctions.
Fiscal philosophy: In economic downturns such as the one we’re in, I’m a fiscally responsible person. That means cut when necessary, limit spending to job growth opportunities, and raise revenue if necessary. This is my philosophy for the current economic times.
Background & experience: As a teacher, facilitator, life coach, mediator, business person, I bring those experiences to the committee hearings and to the negotiations which lend a special understanding to their issues. I also have more credibility in the areas that I have experience. My life coaching skills improve the quality of my inquiries in committees, my family business background helps me appreciate our small business community, and my Republican-Democrat household taught me to understand both sides of most issues, making me a more balanced legislator.
Proposition 100 sales tax: Raise revenue if necessary is my philosophy. It’s necessary right now. The state is flat broke.
Pro-life/pro-choice: My position is that abortion is a personal decision, and the Legislature should stay out of people’s personal business.
One last thing: I love standing up for neighborhoods and my hometown, Tucson.
Campaign Finance: public.
