Interests: Music and history.
Issues:
Political influence: I listen to a lot of talk radio, so people like Rush, Sean Hannity, Dennis Prager and Michael Medved. Here in Arizona, I would say people I look up to are Russell Pearce, Jerry Weiers and Judy Burges. I’m really thankful to be able to work with them.
Budget recommendations: If we use a strict interpretation of Prop. 105, we can cut government by 20 percent without violating Prop. 105 or the federal stimulus maintenance-of-effort requirements. For revenues, we can cut a few very specific taxes. For example, the personal property tax that discourages manufacturing [can be cut], and we can then bring in more manufacturing jobs and increase revenue.
Other concerns: I will focus on illegal immigration and border security, as well as fraud, waste and abuse in government spending.
Fiscal philosophy: I believe in limited government. I believe government should only do for us that which we cannot do for ourselves. Background & experience: My degree in political science and minor in marketing has helped me understand the issues and move ideas forward. My experience in the business community has allowed me to see how the changes have an effect.
Prop. 100 sales tax: I absolutely opposed it. I found over $4 billion of the taxpayers’ dollars in a variety of places. In a down time, if you want to increase revenue, you cut taxes, not increase them. That’s the Republican platform.
Pro-life/pro-choice: I’m pro-life. I am opposed to abortion in all cases except for rape and incest and to save the life of the mother, but I would hope that if it were a rape, the mother would give the child up for adoption.
One last thing: It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve. After this two-year boot camp, I’ve done some good things, but I’m really in a position to make some substantial and positive changes, because I know how things operate now.
Campaign Finance: public.
