Interests: My family, athletics, domestic and International travel, and entrepreneurship.
Issues:
Political influence: Jim Waring, CD3 congressional candidate and former AZ state senator.
Budget recommendations: The education system is full of administrative bloat. Principals should be empowered to spend education dollars where necessary. Arizona should be the small business capital of the nation. We need to entice businesses to come to Arizona by doing things such as cutting the small business property tax. Having more working Arizonans means more revenue for the state.
Other concerns: Right-sizing education spending. Reducing tax and regulatory pressure on small businesses.
Fiscal philosophy: You do not spend money you do not have. And you should have to earn what you get. If rewards are merely given to you, then you have no ownership or ‘skin in the game’. Buy ‘used’ whenever possible.
Background & experience: Twenty years in the business as one of the only women pilots in the Air Force has given me valuable experience. Also, running a business involving real estate transactions in this economic environment is tough. Both were a daily exercise in maintaining integrity in the face of daily pressure.
Proposition 100 sales tax: I opposed it. How can we justify giving the state government more money when the same state government has not managed what it has had?
Pro-life/pro-choice: I am pro-life.
One last thing: Those who know me, including many independents and Democrats, will tell you that I work hard and follow through. I am running for state Senate to continue to be of service to the citizens of LD17. I am honored to be one of the Air Force’s first 100 female pilots. I am a small business owner, and the Legislature needs more business owners who understand the problems facing us today. I have solutions to these problems. Small business owners do not receive bailouts or a stimulus if they cannot make a payroll. I have visited over 6,000 homes in LD17 so far, and voters always tell me that we need more accountability. I am ready to serve on day one, and I appreciate the confidence that so many voters have given me.
