Issues:
Political influence: Ronald Reagan
Budget recommendations: Create affordable BASIC health care coverage to reduce the number of people on AHCCCS; reduce or eliminate some of the programs which are not related to job and economic growth; increase revenues with public-private partnerships to infuse working capital for infrastructure and energy projects which will create jobs and energy independence.
Other concerns: Job creation and economic development; protection of our border and immigration issues.
Fiscal philosophy: Conservative with a zero base budget.
Background & experience: As a small business owner for 25 years and with 40 employees, I understand fiscal responsibility, budgets, insurance issues, government regulations and the related challenges. Having served 11 years as an elected official, I have the experience and understanding of government budgets, public health and safety issues, water resources, infrastructure and municipal government responsibilities to our citizens.
Prop. 100 sales tax: I am undecided at this time. Under normal circumstances, I would not support any tax increases. However, given the financial situation in the state, if we are not able to find any more substantial reductions in our spending, we may be forced to accept a temporary tax increase to keep our state from bankruptcy and ensure our public safety, particularly with the border problems we are facing.
Pro-life/pro-choice: I am pro-life and believe abortion should only be legal to prevent the death of a mother, cases of incest, and in cases of forcible rape.
One last thing: I believe less government is best, and our Constitutional amendments should be upheld as written, particularly with the 2nd and 10th Amendments.
Campaign Finance: private.
