About Legislative District 22

This district has the second-highest number of registered voters in the state (only LD-4 has more with 165,576). Since 2002, the Republican advantage over Democrats has slipped 5 percentage points from 27.5 percent to 22.3 percent. The ranks of those unaffiliated with either major party have grown by seven points. It has the seventh-lowest percentage of residents living under the poverty level and is in the top-third in terms of per-capita income. It is in the top-third of districts for residents with a college degree and in the bottom-third in percentage of residents over 18 who did not graduate from high school.
