Geographic Description of Legislative District 12

This district encompasses much of the suburban far west Valley south of Bell Rd. and dips into the more urbanized west Valley to take in irregularly shaped pieces of Glendale and a few Phoenix precincts. The point where Greenway Rd. meets White Tank Mountain Park is the district’s northwest corner. From there the boundary follows Greenway east to Sarival Rd. and then jogs north one mile to Bell, which it follows east to the river bed of the Agua Fria River. It follows the Agua Fria south to Northern Ave. and then east along Northern into Glendale, just north of the downtown area of that city. The district line extends into Phoenix to pick up one precinct (Augusta) southeast of 43rd Ave and Northern. From there the line snakes back into Glendale, ceding most of the southeast corner of the city to neighboring Legislative District 13. From Camelback Rd. and 83rd Ave., the district line zig-zags southwest to I-10, which it follows east to Dysart Rd. Most of Avondale that lies north of I-10 is included in the district. The line then turns south to include Goodyear and exclude the bulk of Avondale (which lies in Districts 13 and 23.). The district takes in most of the southern areas of Goodyear and the parts of Buckeye that lie east of Watson Rd. It follows the northern boundary of Buckeye to Beardsley Canal Rd. before going north to the starting point.
