Geographic Description of Legislative District 19

This district lies entirely within the borders of Mesa (although there are some county islands included). To the north and east lies District 23. To the south is District 22, which comprises the rest of Mesa and the town of Gilbert. To the west is District 18. The northeast corner of the district is the point where Gilbert Rd. enters the Salt River channel. From there the district line goes east along the river, following the northern boundary of Mesa. It breaks away from the river at the Granite Reef Dam and goes south, following the boundary between Mesa and the Usery Mountains section of the Tonto National Forest. At Meridian Rd., the district line goes south and is coterminous with the Maricopa-Pinal county border. At Meridian and Broadway roads, the district line cuts west to Hawes Rd. and then south to Southern Rd., east to Sossaman Rd., south again to the Superstition Fwy. (US 60), and east to Power Rd. It then follows the border between Mesa and the town of Gilbert (generally along Baseline Rd.) west to Val Vista Rd., then north to Broadway Rd., west to Gilbert Rd. and then north to the Salt River and the starting point. Superstition Springs Mall is the main retail center in the district. Falcon Field lies within the district, as does the McDonnell Douglas helicopter factory.
