There’s reportedly a settlement in a lawsuit filed on behalf of a Coconino County woman who wants to wear a tea party T-shirt when going to vote on Nov. 2.
The Goldwater Institute says a hearing scheduled Thursday in federal court in Phoenix is canceled because there’s a last-minute settlement. Lawyers for the institute filed the lawsuit on behalf of Diane Wickberg.
The case stems from Arizona’s May 18 special election and the Aug. 24 primary election.
The suit says Wickberg ran into resistance from elections officials when she appeared wearing a T-shirt that read “Flagstaff Tea Party: Reclaiming our Constitution Now.”
State law bans electioneering inside a polling place.
