The saga surrounding the removal of former House member Doug Quelland from the Legislature isn't over quite yet.

Republicans Kimberly Yee and Rep. Jim Weiers were victorious in the House Legislative District 10 race, keeping both seats in GOP control.

Swing districts will play prominently in a handful of House races this year. And in most, Democrats will be on defense while Republicans will be trying to regain seats they traditionally held and lost in recent years.

Republican Kimberly Yee, a well known policy advisor, took her oath as the Legislature's newest member on Aug. 4. The Maricopa Board of Supervisors appointed Yee to the House two days before as a replacement to Doug Quelland, who was removed from office for violating campaign-finance laws.

Most of Gov. Jan Brewer's recent primary endorsements have been for out-of-state candidates, but now Brewer is officially weighing in on some of the state's most contested GOP battles. Several of the candidates Brewer is pushing for in contested primaries are percieved to be the moderates in their races.

The Arizona Chapter of Associated General Contractors unveiled their list of 41 endorsements for the 2010 legislative election July 27.

District 10 House candidates hold similar views on a host of issues, but their position on education funding is where they differ.

Quelland is claiming to have endorsements from people and advocacy groups who are, in fact, endorsing his opponents in the LD10 House race. In fact, of the seven endorsements listed on his website, only one - U.S. Rep. Trent Franks - confirmed to Yellow Sheet the endorsement was valid.
