Interests: Volunteering in my community.
Two biggest issues: First big issue is the need for “economic development” to keep our businesses healthy and our workers employed. I encourage and support business expansion, and focus our efforts on keeping the existing businesses strong. Second, water sustainability should be one of our major focus issues. I am working to bring water back into the public discussion, and to work on securing sustainable water supplies. By working together, we will build a foundation on which our businesses can thrive.
Budget priorities: My budget priority is to fund agencies like ADEQ and ADWR, which work to safeguard the quality and quantity of water in our state. Based on current economic growth, I support working to increase revenues, while at the same time investigate and eliminate programs that are not effective.
Fiscal philosophy: A balanced budget is an important goal to maintain long-term sustainability.
Common Core: I am in support of Common Core. Common Core will improve our schools and provide for national standards of excellence. It is more than basic memorization of facts; it raises standards and it emphasizes the use of information to solve problems.
Gifts to elected officials: Working with fellow legislators, I have supported proposed legislation that would close the lobbyist gift ban loopholes. Those bills have not gotten traction in past legislative sessions.
Transparency in government: I am for it.
Pro-life / pro-choice: I support a woman’s right to choose.
Public policy advice: The leadership in my caucus, other elected officials, business leaders in our community and community leaders. I also listen to my constituents and keep informed on current issues that are important.
