Top priority: Securing Southern Arizona’s porous border, struggling economy, and military assets.
Initial legislation: Legislation that would provide tracking of illegal immigrants who are released into our communities awaiting their immigration hearings.
Federal deficit: Limit the size of the federal workforce through attrition. Reduce unnecessary regulations that are costly to create, enforce, and report.
Federal spending in AZ: Funding a long-term flying mission at Davis Monthan AFB.
Respected opponent: John F. Kennedy. While history will write many things of a man, Kennedy’s vision for our country, his willingness to do the hard things – those which would serve our country, his management style and team building skills, his decisiveness, his charisma, and his strategic leadership – has earned my respect. While as a child I don’t remember everything about that day, I do remember the sadness of my Republican parents and their friends. Our nation mourned his loss and I sensed the respect he received from all Americans – Republicans and Democrats – and I still carry that respect today.
Public policy advice: As a consultant, I have spent a great deal of time researching public policy and federal issues, and I start with researching the issues independently and then often turn to friends who have served in leadership positions in several administrations in Washington, D.C. I am blessed with a circle of family and friends who share the same passion for America, freedom and liberty that I do and love the “sport of debate.”
