Arizona since: 2003
Occupation: Birthdate: October 1972. Director of professional services, Signature Technology Group, 2012-14; Microsoft consultant, Xtreme Consulting, 2009-12; independent consultant for financial technology, 2006-09; software/mechanical engineer, Intel, 1997-2006;
Marital: Married
Education: Various courses at ASU; attended community college.
Political experience: Local community activist; frequent attendee at village planning committee.
Interests: Sports fan, writing the next great American novel, traveling, volunteering, spending time with family and friends, adventure weekends (Nascar driving, intro to trapeze, fighter pilot school, sailing lessons, and scavenger races through Phoenix/Tempe/Scottsdale), campaigning (my new favorite), and hanging out with my dogs.
Two biggest issues: Economical growth and infrastructure: I will work to make Arizona a great place to do business, and to do that we need to shore up education and invest in a comprehensive transportation plan. We need to invest in Arizona’s infrastructure so that in 20 years we can sustain current growth projections. We need to invest in energy, water, and transportation planning.
Budget priorities: My budget priority will be to invest in areas that will fuel growth. Growth will facilitate the restoration of funding to services that have been reduced over the years.
Fiscal philosophy: I’m a fiscal conservative who believes in taking the long road and making investments now that will save us tenfold tomorrow.
Common Core: Arizona should continue to implement ACCCRS. To become a great place to do business, Arizona needs a highly trained and educated workforce. Attempts to defund ACCCRS is both reckless and damaging to the Arizona economy.
Gifts to elected officials: I believe in transparency. Transparency will drive ethical behavior.
Transparency in government: Transparency is key to good government. Transparency drives good policy.
Pro-life / pro-choice: My position is that abortion is an issue that is used to divide and distract.
Public policy advice: I’m inclusive to everyone. When I decided to run for office I reached out to every incumbent and candidate in the last election cycle. I also made a point of trying to engage the announced candidates for the 2014 race just to introduce myself and wish them luck. I like to listen to different viewpoints within my inner circle. My inner circle is made up of lifelong Republicans and Democrats. I’ve spent my entire campaign reaching out to the community and working with all viewpoints on what is best for Arizona.
