Top priority: To either create or join a delegation of U.S. southern border representatives to map out and enact a workable and affordable solution to secure and seal the entire border with Mexico.

Initial legislation: Since Congress holds the “power of the purse” and our wide-open border with Mexico is wasting American tax dollars and precious lives, I will introduce a bill that would decrease federal funding of the Dept of Homeland Security incrementally (monthly) until there is quantifiable (by real-time observation methods, including local resident testimony) that the southern U.S. border with Mexico is secured and the flow of illegal immigrants and drug cartel activity has completely ceased. The purpose of this bill is to force the DHS to examine its policies, procedures and expenditures regarding border security to effect permanent resolution of our border crisis.

Federal deficit: The federal government should immediately return land in the western U.S. to the state’s control. This would open the area for the energy, forestry and mining industries that have been severely hampered by the federal government. With a region extremely rich in natural resources, a tremendously positive impact on our deficit would be realized. Fraud, waste and abuse of taxpayer money is widely acknowledged within the federal government, especially in our federal budgeting process. Congress continues to allow billions in unnecessary “pork” to permeate throughout nearly every bill and budget request. Every federal agency and department should be audited and every instance of FW&A should be dealt with swiftly, eliminating both the discovered waste and the people responsible for it.

Federal spending in AZ: Alternative water resources. While it is controversial and expensive, a long-term solution for Arizona’s water scarcity could be to construct and operate a desalination plant. There are relevant success stories that strongly suggest this as a viable solution, but the state would likely need some measure of federal funding to help cover the cost.

Respected opponent: Clint Eastwood, Libertarian. He’s a really good actor and his impromptu “empty chair” speech at the Republican National Convention was brilliant.

Public policy advice: I have a small, but well-educated and informed trusted advisors that provide instruction, discussion and debate on issues including local, national and global. This is a network I have nurtured and been involved with for nearly 37 years.
