MESA – Thieves are charming their way into the homes of senior citizens, then stealing items once they’re inside.
Police say it’s happening in Mesa and Tempe.
Authorities say in three recent thefts, suspects managed to “talk” their way into the victim’s homes.
On July 17th, five men rang the doorbell of an elderly Tempe couple and convinced the homeowners they were part of a landscape contractor the couple had used in the past.
Police say that while one of the suspects distracted the couple, the other men stole valuables from the home.
Two similar thefts in the homes of seniors in Tempe took place on July 22.
Mesa and Tempe police strongly suggest not allowing strangers into your home.
Contact the company that people claim to represent to confirm their identity before allowing them inside.
