Registration deadline looms for special election

The deadline for registering to vote in the May 18 special election is late Monday night.

The ballot will include the one-cent sales tax increase that was pushed by Gov. Jan Brewer and put on the ballot by the Legislature.

The measure would produce $1 billion annually to reduce big shortfalls projects in the state’s budget for the next several years.

Arizonans can register to vote online by going to www.servicearizona.com.
