TUCSON — Federal Election Commission records show Democrat Ron Barber has raised more than twice as much money as any Republican challenger in the special election to fill the former congressional seat of Gabrielle Giffords.
The former Giffords’ aide is running unopposed in the Democratic primary. FEC records obtained by The Arizona Daily Star show Barber raised more than $549,000 through the end of March.
On the Republican side, Federal Election Commission records show Dave Sitton has raised $260,000, Jesse Kelly $210,000, Martha McSally $133,000 and Frank Antenori has not filed a report.
The Republican primary for the District 8 special election is April 17 and the general election is June 12.
