Brewer vetoes expansions of school tax credits

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has vetoed a bill to expand the state’s tax credit programs for donations for private school scholarships.

She also has signed a bill to create a new form of vouchers for special education students.

Brewer said Tuesday the bill to expand the tax credit program and make it more generous for donors would unbalance the budget and unfairly hurt some local governments.

She signed a bill creating new state-funded voucher accounts for parents of special-education students to use for educational expenses.
