The Arizona Secretary of State’s office says about 2,000 people registered to vote in the state since April.
The agency reported the newest voter registration figures in a written statement Monday.
Secretary of State Ken Bennett’s office says more than 71,000 voters signed up for the state’s permanent early-voting list during that same period of time.
Officials also say about 13,000 people registered as independent voters, while the number of registered Republicans and Democrats fell.
The Secretary of State’s office says the number of registered Democrats has dropped under a million for the first time since August 2008.
Arizona now has about 3.2 million registered voters in total.
Of those, Republicans have the most registered voters, followed by independent voters and then Democrats.
