Arpaio recall group has paid signature gatherers again

A group trying to oust Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is again paying professionals to gather signatures from voters in a bid to force a recall election against the lawman.

Fundraising difficulties had prompted the group to stop using paid signature gatherers nearly two months ago and instead rely on only volunteers.

But recall organizer Lilia Alvarez says the paid signature gatherers resumed their work for her group Wednesday after contributors followed through on pledges to donate money.

The recall group must turn in more than 335,000 valid voter signatures by May 30 to force a recall election against Arpaio.

Alvarez declined to say how many signatures her group has currently gathered.

Two weeks ago, Alvarez had said the group had gathered 200,000 signatures.

  1. We can’t be everywhere collecting signatures across Maricopa County so we gladly sent in money so they could hire people to help this outstanding effort to rid Arizona of its icon for cruelty, inhumanity and wasting hundreds of millions of $$’s. Who in a major city would have a county sheriff at age 80 who cannot even do his job? That is unless the carpetbaggers who control Arizona “control” the state. Wake up folks! Who is your God? arpaio, a county sheriff who rules like a dictator, your party or your religion?

  2. Joe Arpaio is the best thing that has ever happened to Arizona in the name of law and order. As long as he is sherrif, Maricopa County will still be a decent place to live and raise a family. The moment he is gone crime will run rampant in Maricopa County. The only crime our sheriff is guilty of is that of enforcing the laws the citizens hired hm to enforce, especially those regarding illegal entry to the State of Arizona.
I certainly hope and believe Mr Arpaio will be our sheriff for as long as decent law abiding citizens continue to vote for him. God bless Sheriff Joe Arpaio!
