Senate panel advances Paton’s bill to eliminate partisan city elections (access required)

Partisan municipal elections in Arizona will vanish in Arizona if legislation by Sen. Jonathan Paton is signed into law this session. Paton's proposal, S1123, passed easily through the Senate Judiciary Committee on June 8, when the body's members voted 6-1 to pass the bill without amendments.
