Gov. Jan Brewer named former Arizona Corporation Commissioner Jeff Hatch-Miller as director of the Arizona Lottery.
Hatch-Miller will replace Arturo Macias, who resigned in January to join former Gov. Janet Napolitano at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Hatch-Miller served for six years as a member of the Corporation Commission, including two as chairman. In a press release, Brewer cited Hatch-Miller's experiences in managing the ACC's budget and databases, as well as his role in the commission's creation and adoption of renewable energy standards.
Prior to his election to the ACC in 2003, Hatch-Miller served two terms in the state House of Representatives, where he chaired the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee. He has also worked as a community and economic development specialist at the University of Arizona, served as project director for the Arizona Diagnostic Development Program, and co-chaired the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Competitive Procurement Collaborative.
Hatch-Miller is also president of Veterans for Arizona, chairman of the Foundation for Senior Living, and councilman of the Arizona Telemedicine Council.
