Gov. Jan Brewer on March 25 named Donald Cardon as Department of Housing director and Chad Kirkpatrick as the new director of the Government Information Technology Agency. She also named Cassandra Larsen as the next director of the Governor's Office for Children, Youth and Families.
Cardon had served as president and CEO of Cardon Development Group LLC, which worked to create low-income housing tax credit projects throughout Arizona and helped create affordable housing communities in Phoenix, Gilbert, Eloy and Winslow. He has also worked as deputy housing director for the City of Phoenix, and had previously served as executive director for the Longview Housing Authority in Washington state.
Since 2003, Kirkpatrick has worked at Wells Fargo, where he held the position of vice president and business systems manager of compliance services. At Wells Fargo, he created the company's "management information systems (MIS) roadmap," to identify MIS needs and goals in the company. Kirkpatrick also served as chairman for the anti-tax organization Americans for Prosperity Arizona.
Before her appointment by Brewer, Larsen had served as director of the Arizona Prevention Resource Center, where she had also served as associate director and community initiatives coordinator. The APRC provides technical assistance and training to educators and other organizations for the prevention of gang violence, substance abuse and bullying. Larsen has also served as chief of staff for the Arizona Department of Education, and executive director for the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools.
