Gov. Jan Brewer on April 17 named two judges to the Maricopa County Superior Court.

James Beene, who currently serves as appeals and extradition bureau chief for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, was named to fill the vacancy created by the recent retirement of Judge Anna Baca. Beene has also served as assistant Arizona attorney general and deputy county attorney in Maricopa and Pinal counties.

M. Scott McCoy, who will replace recently retired Judge Louis Araneta, currently serves as court commissioner for the Maricopa County Superior Court. McCoy also spent several years with the firms Beus, Gilbert & Morrill, Kirkland & Ellis, and Jennings, Strouss & Salmon.
