Bennett seeks dismissal from Arpaio recall lawsuit

Clamoring for a fix, politicians take aim at election reform

Secretary of State Ken Bennett

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett has asked to be dismissed from a lawsuit by a group that’s trying to halt a recall effort against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

A lawyer for Bennett says in court papers that the dismissal request should be granted because none of the pro-Arpaio group’s legal claims are leveled against Bennett and that his office isn’t responsible for handling recall efforts against county officials.

The lawsuit was filed against the group seeking the recall, Bennett and county elections officials.

The group seeking the recall has predicted the lawsuit will get tossed out of court.

Recall organizers say they have collected 200,000 of the 335,000 valid voter signatures needed by May 30 to force a recall election.

These Arpiao recalls are ridiculous. The only people who hate him are criminals, or previous criminals, or the criminal mentality. He won’t be recalled, and we look foolish.

  2. eLatinaVoices, an online community of 900 women, believe that when a public elected official neglects their duty and through their actions hurts the citizens he is elected to protect, that there are consequences. One of the consequences for Arpaio’s nonfeasance in public office is to be removed by citizens for hurting children by choosing not to investigate serious crimes against children. No elected official should getaway with making these “bad” decisions. He is supposed to be a “seasoned” elected official who should know better. When you do a bad job … you get fired! Why should he be the exception? Children have the right to equal protection under the law. What is wrong with you people!

Let’s see some examples of actual abuse by the Sheriff and MCSO??? I watch “Lock UP…Maricopa Co. Jail” on MSNBC, and it seems to me those women should be the ones the voters blame for their children being dumped on family and the taxpayers to raise, while they have their butts in jail. Don’t commit crimes and you won’t be “abused” (?), much less your families and children. The MCSO isn’t to blame for your lack of responsibility to society and your family.
