The Arizona Corporation Commission approved a proposal on Nov. 28, 2023, that residents in the Rio Verde Foothills area hope will solve their water problems and end an “eyesore” in the state. The commission voted 4-0 to approve a proposal from utilities company EPCOR to build a standpipe and provide water for the area. This decision paves the way for the company to move forward as a long-term water provider in the area after the city of Scottsdale shut off access to its water supply for Rio Verde residents in January.
