Online popularity didn’t equal automatic votes for Arizona candidates

While it’s nice to be liked as a politician, it’s better to be elected. And the results of this week’s balloting in Arizona challenge conventional wisdom and recent studies that suggest candidates with a more engaging social media presence are more likely to win elections.

Quayle out-raises, outspends Schweikert in pre-primary period

U.S. Rep. Ben Quayle raised more and spent more than fellow incumbent Congressman David Schweikert in the last fundraising period for the 6th Congressional District primary between the two freshman Republicans.

Quayle raised $189,285 compared to just $80,645 for Schweikert in the pre-primary period, which ran from July 1 to Aug. 8. Quayle also outspent his rival, spending $797,766 to Schw[...]
