Report: Shifting to EV fleets would save state, local governments millions

Arizona governments could save almost $283 million over the next 10 years if roughly 20,000 gasoline-powered light-duty vehicles in their fleets that are due to be retired were replaced with electric vehicles, according a recent report.

In a case with nationwide implications, the U.S. Supreme Court this morning ruled the Town of Gilbert illegally blocked a tiny church from erecting temporary signs directing parishioners to services.

A small church in a Phoenix suburb appeared likely Monday to win its Supreme Court dispute over a local ordinance that puts limits on roadside signs that direct people to Sunday services.

Experts say to expect more solar projects to pop up around Arizona and the rest of the country as local governments face a deadline of using stimulus money by the end of 2012.
