Repeal of mortgage bill signed into law

The Arizona Bankers Association's goal of clamping down on speculative investors who fueled the state's foreclosure crisis will have to wait, now that state lawmakers and Gov. Jan Brewer repealed contested foreclosure legislation passed earlier this year.

Foreclosure law on track for repeal – again

It's back to square one for the Arizona Bankers Association. A tenuous deal to alter Arizona laws that govern home foreclosures was struck down by lawmakers on Nov. 18 after objections were raised by the homebuilding industry. The agreement had been struck by the Bankers Association and the Arizona Association of Realtors.

Senate approves bills in debate, final vote expected today

In almost staccato fashion, senators approved a package of bills to reduce state spending by about $300 million on Nov. 18 - first in committee and then on the floor. Senators attempted several amendments, both in committee and during Committee of the Whole.

Lawmakers: Changes needed on foreclosure bill

UPDATE - Sen. Steve Pierce told the Arizona Capitol Times that his foreclosure bill will have to be fixed, either in special session or next year when the Legislature begins the regular session. Pierce and stakeholders met this afternoon (July 28) to discuss changes to the legislation.
