Gilbert resident Scott. W. Peterson has been hired as the senior vice president of public affairs for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Peterson, 36, joins the Chamber after two years as a partner with Capitol Strategies, a Wisconsin-based consulting firm specializing in lobbying of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Wisconsin executive branch.
Mr. Peterson was vice president of government relations for the Wisconsin Hospital Association from September 1997 to March 2001. His duties there included being the association’s lead lobbyist at the state capitol with state administrative agencies and the Wisconsin congressional delegation.
Mr. Peterson also served as executive assistant secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and Senate liaison and policy adviser to then-Governor Tommy Thompson, who now serves as U.S. Secretary of Health & Human Services in the Bush Administration.
He has a degree from the University of Wisconsin.
Mr. Peterson replaces Robert Shuler, who is now a lobbyist at FourSquare Group in Phoenix. Arizona Chamber of Commerce President & CEO James J. Apperson announced the hiring Nov. 5. Mr. Peterson will begin work Nov. 10. —
