House and Senate aide, Melbalyn “Mel” Chatwin, 56, died April 10 of cancer.
Services and interment for Ms. Chatwin were April 14 in Phoenix. At the time of her death, Ms. Chatwin was administrative assistant to Sen. Marilyn Jarrett, R-19.
Previously she was an aide to former Reps. Jeff Groscost and Bill McGibbon and served as the state extradition officer from 1986-1988.
Ms. Chatwin, a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was devoted to the Republican Party, serving many years as a precinct committee chairwoman, later running unsuccessfully for a District 18 House seat in 2000.
Survivors include her father, former Superior Court Judge Kenneth C. Chatwin, two sisters and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. —
