Arizona Farm Bureau President Kevin Rogers of Mesa, a cotton and alfalfa farmer, meets retired U.S. General Tommy Franks at the 2004 American Farm Bureau annual convention held recently in Hawaii. The retired four-star general reminded members that, “the last two years of American history have been tough on you, on your kids, and on your brothers and sisters. When we saw those twin towers fall, we recognized the vulnerability of America, our free and open society, and our way of life. And since that time, the world has come to recognize what a super power on steroids looks like.”

The Arizona Democratic Party has elected the final delegates, including several lawmakers, to attend the Democratic National Convention (DNC), which will be July 26-29 in Boston. Arizona has will be bringing 73 delegates, super delegates and alternates to the DNC. The super delegates (which means they are not pledged to a particular candidate) include Governor Napolitano, Arizona Democratic Party Chair Jim Pederson, 4th District Congressman Ed Pastor, 7th District Congressman Raúl Grijalva and Attorney General Terry Goddard. District delegates (selected from district results) include Rep. Ted Downing, D-28, and Pima County Recorder F. Ann Rodriquez. Party leaders and elected officials (who are pledged to specific candidates) include Sen. Gabrielle Giffords, D-28, Rep. Ken Clark, D-15, and Rep. Jack Jackson Jr., D-2. At-large alternate delegates include Maricopa County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox and Rep. Amanda Aguirre, D-24, has been included on the rules committee. The Web site is azdem.org.

The law firm Fennemore Craig has earned high marks in the 2004-2005 Chambers USA Guide, a guide to the legal profession. Of the six categories used to measure a firm’s position in the market, the firm earned a combination of two No. 1, two No. 2 and one No. 3 positions in five categories.
