Jeanine L’Ecuyer, who joined the Governor’s Office last December as a deputy communications officer and press secretary, has been promoted to director of communications effective Oct. 18, Governor Napolitano has announced.

Ms. L’Ecuyer will replace Paul Allvin, who was recently named a vice president for strategic communications for the University of Arizona.

A former television newswoman with KPNX-TV Channel 12, Ms. L’Ecuyer will continue as press secretary while taking over for Mr. Allvin, who wrote most of the governor’s major speeches.

Ms. L’Ecuyer said she will not be writing major speeches, but would not elaborate.

“We have a couple of strategies in place for major speeches,” she said.

Ms. L’Ecuyer’s new salary will be $90,000, she said. —
