It was nice to see Diane Brown’s commentary on clean renewable energy. [Corporation Commission Should Increase Clean Renewable Energy, Page 2, May 6 issue]
Almost everyone I know in Phoenix is sick of the brown cloud and realizes coal is a problem for the state. Coal power has helped make asthma a problem in a city that used to be a haven for asthmatics. Coal emissions have also scarred the natural beauty of the Valley. When traveling out of state I have found many people associate Phoenix with the brown cloud.
It is hard to believe that the state hasn’t made the switch to clean and renewable energy, especially solar power, since a majority of our days are sunny. The switch to solar energy would help Arizona’s health and economy. I hope the Arizona Corporation Commission will realize just how important clean and renewable energy is for Arizona and take action! —
